SPEAKING. PLAYING TABOO

HELLO EVERYONE!

Have you ever played Taboo?

Today, We are going to play in the class. You can practise at home too and record the definition of words with Flipgrid https://info.flipgrid.com/

In the classroom, we will play in pairs. A student has a card with a word that should describe to his classmate. But watch out! Its not that easy. On this same card, there will be three more words that will be closely related to the first. None of them can be used to describe.

The partner will have to guess what word it is and then the roles will be changed. The partner who can describe the most words wins.

To do this, we will use the tablets in which we will access the following link: https://view.genial.ly/5fbbeccc3a57ab0d1d1b5f6d/game-action-genially-sin-titulo

There will appear the different cards with words already seen in class.

  1. Hi Cecilia,
the first thing I want to tell you is that I love your blog, I find it very beautiful and that it is designed with great care.
On the other hand I wanted to comment on your speaking activity because I found it very cool and
motivating for students. Speaking activities in English classes are usually based on commenting things about a story or a picture and create a little dialogue. But this one has caught my attention and I like it because being a game it will help students a lot to feel interested and willing to talk since they have to achieve a goal which is to win the game.
So thank you very much for sharing this activity.

    Regards,
    Paula

  2. Thank you very much for your very positive comment, Paula. I have used the game taboo many times in the classroom to work on oral expression with my students in the language subject and it has occurred to me that it could also be a good idea to use it in the English class. And also using the ICTs that we have at our scope, can be more appealing to students.
Thanks again, I'm glad you liked the proposal.
    Greetings.

  3. Hi Cecilia,
I really like your blog because you have managed to combine two aspects that seem I consider very important for an educational blog. First, the contents are adequate and they are really appropiated to teach English. And you have also done it in a very entertaining way, catching their attention motivating them to play and learn.

    Thank you,

    José Agustín Prieto Tessino

  4. Hi Cecilia!! First of all I want you to congratulate you for this amazing activities!!
I just loved it, it is not only the way it is all presented but also how interactive and interesting the activities are. I'm sure any student is going to love it.
One aspect that I think you could improve is the type of the letter, it is a little bit complicated to read it and understad it all. However, as I just said, I love your blog and the job you did.

    Cheers! Elena.
